Innovation made by Tönnjes: the Radio Frequency Identification Plate (R.F.I.P.) developed by us sets global benchmarks in the vehicle identification. The core of the system is a memory chip, which is integrated in the vehicle’s aluminium license plate during the production process.
The data stored on this so-called passive RFID tag (UHF technology) can be retrieved anytime via fixed and mobile reading devices by radio communication – also in moving traffic. Tönnjes R.F.I.P. can be combined with any safety features such as holograms or laser engravings and is available as thief-proof license plate.
Security license plates
License plates are official documents made of metal. Therefore, a modern license plate laminated with reflective sheeting should contain security features; the same as every other official document in order to protect it from duplications, falsifications or any other manipulation.
The use of security features also assures a controlled production and issuance process which facilitates law enforcement and control of vehicles on the street.

Security License Plates
Hot stamping foils with security inscription increase the tamper-resistance of finished license plates. We offer hot stamping foils with generic (e.g. "Vali") or customised text or logos.
Security watermarks are available in different versions. The use of watermarks offers additional protection of raw materials used for the production of license plates.
Today holograms provide the highest security level. We use hot stamping holograms during the production process of license plate blanks as well as holographic stickers for the validation and protection of finished license plates.
Holographic stickers
Security license plates should only be issued from competent registration authorities and in combination with holographic stickers to certify that it is a legal document and that the vehicle has been properly registered. Holographic stickers can further be used as annual registration or tax labels, which must be renewed on a yearly basis. Changing colour and design facilitates control of the vehicle status by law enforcement.

Holographic Stickers
Holographic stickers are used to identify and to verify finished license plates. They can be applied at the very end of the registration process within the registration centres. Our offer also includes stickers which can be printed (e.g. license plate number, validity date etc.) by using standard laser- or thermal transfer printers.
We also offer pre-printed stickers with serial numbers which can be linked to the license plate numbers in the registration database.

For several years, the so called "3rd license plate sticker" has become an integral part of modern vehicle registration systems. It acts as a durable link between the license plates and the vehicle and can be used for many applications: road tax, technical inspection, insurance coverage or simply to repeat the license plate number. Due to its self-destructive mechanism, the windshield sticker cannot be transferred to another vehicle once it has been applied to a windscreen. This permanently eliminates the use of stolen license plates.
The 3rd license plate sticker was introduced in Poland at the same time the car plate sticker was introduced in 1999.
Since 1999 we have supplied the insurance windshield label in Latvia. Every year it is redesigned and reissued once the insurance fee for third party liability insurance has been paid. This system enables a quick, easy and reliable verification of the insurance status of a vehicle on the road.
In 2004 we successfully introduced the 3rd license plate sticker in Hungary. Besides the license plate number, it also shows a barcode to enable machine-readability of the information contained.
Windshield labels
In addition to holographic stickers we recommend the use of windshield labels (3rd license plate stickers). The use of a 3rd license plate sticker eliminates the use of stolen license plates, since it establishes a direct and visible connection between the vehicle and the license plate itself.
Windshield labels can also be used as proof for technical inspection, road tax or insurance payments.
Security documents
Our wide range of document solutions includes documents based on paper, plastic cards and smart cards. All document solutions can be used as registration documents, driving licenses or ID cards.
All our products can also be used to enhance the security and tamper resistance of existing documents without replacing or modifying the existing documents and materials.

Security Documents
Since 1998 the authorities in Latvia have used a title of ownership in combination with a holographic lamination pouch, thus protecting all data in the ownership document from manipulation and falsification.
We offer a large variety of solutions for the protection of your documents.
Existing documents can additionally be protected by use of holographic laminates. It is possible to seal the document completely or only partially in order to allow changes of ownership to be updated without replacing the complete document every time.
As a solutions provider, we supply turnkey document solutions adapted to your requirements and based on the latest security technologies and materials, such as security paper or plastic (chip) cards made of PET or Polycarbonate.
